Located on the Kaduna River in northern Nigeria, the station has a total installed capacity of 700 MW (4 × 175 MW). The project delivers comprehensive benefits spanning power generation, flood control and irrigation. Since being commissioned, it has met approximately 10% of Nigeria's total electricity demand and accounted for 75% of the country’s newly added available power output in the past decade — playing a pillar role in alleviating the long-standing local power supply deficit and improving people's living standards.

The project pursues in-depth localized development, forging a bond of China-Africa friendship through hydropower engineering. During peak construction, local employment exceeded 5,000, making up over 90% of the total workforce. Through hands-on mentoring and skills training, the project team has nurtured a cohort of local technical experts capable of independent station operation and maintenance —demonstrating China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) Group's sense of responsibility in overseas project delivery and the value of its international operations.

Going forward, CMEC Group will draw in-depth experience from the Zungeru project, seize development opportunities in overseas clean energy, and continue to leverage its full industrial chain integrated service advantages. It will deliver more high-quality energy projects to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and further consolidate its brand influence under the "industrialization + internationalization" business strategy.
